Dana was a healthy, athletic ten year old girl until July 2001 when she contracted Transverse Myelitis, a rare inflammation of the spinal cord that left her paralyzed from the waist down. She came home after a month’s stay at Children’s Hospital San Diego, uncertain of what the future held for her. Thanks to caring family, friends, classmates, doctors and therapists she is slowly regaining use of her legs. She remains a very outgoing girl who does well in school, loves to swim, be with friends, and have fun.

Dana can walk fairly well with the assistance of lower leg braces. She is now re-learning how to hop and jump rope in physical therapy. This relatively recent development is the basis for this fund-raiser; we are counting the number of hops Dana can make, once a day for one month. We are collecting pledges per hop at this time, with all proceeds to go to the Transverse Myelitis Association. Please help!
